Balanced and complete diet is a key to many health problems. For example, in some cases it is enough to improve nutrition in order to solve infertility problems. Let us see what should be eaten in cases of infertility:

1.Folic Acid. Folic acid (folacin or vitamin B)  stimulates the secretion of estrogen, production of female gametes and ovulation. Folic acid together with vitamin B12 participates in synthesising nucleic acid (DNA) and some amino acids. Moreover, with vitamins B6 and B12 improves the function of sexual glands in women and men.
It can be found in: brewer’s yeast, soy, wheat germ, whole grains, legumes, asparagus, broccoli, potatoes, green leafy vegetables, chicken liver, egg yolk, bananas.

 2.Vitamin A. Vitamin A boosts immunity, protects against infection and finally it is a powerful antioxidant. It is important for the reproductive system in men ( it is necessary for sperm production). People who consume too much alcoholic suffer from infertility because alcohol bothered converting provitamin A in its active form in the testes. The best sources: unrefined fish oils, cold pressed vegetable oil, yellow and red fruits, yellow, red and green vegetables, green leafy vegetables, legumes, egg yolk, milk and dairy products.

3.Vitamin C. In addition to acting as an antioxidant, vitamin C protects sex cells from damage, it is important for normal functioning of the adrenal gland and the secretion of hormones that stimulate the testes and ovaries to produce sex cells. In addition, vitamin C helps in the utilization of iron, which also acts on fertility. Best sources: strawberries, papaya, kiwi, oranges, grapefruit, cantaloupe, mango, pomegranate, red or green peppers, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes.

4.Vitamin E. This vitamin stimulates the production of hormones from the adrenal gland and the secretion of sex hormones and pituitary hormones that directly affect the sex glands. In addition, vitamin E protects sex cells from damage by free radicals and thus has a positive effect on fertility in both sexes. 5.Zinc. Zinc is an important trace element that is found in every cell in the body. It is an integral part of sex hormones and is essential for the proper functioning of sex glands and maturation of sex cells. Even a small lack of zinc in the body can cause a slow maturation of gametes and infertility in men and sexual impotence. Best sources: meat, poultry, fish, oats, mushrooms, brewer’s yeast, pumpkin seeds, nuts, legumes, egg yolk, pollen.

6.Iron. Iron deficiency can cause infertility in women. It is essential for the production of female gametes and ovulation. Iron is found in foods of animal and vegetable origin, but the greater intake of iron from foods of animal origin, the risk of infertility is less. Best sources: horse meat, pork and chicken liver, blood sausages, fish roe, squid, millet, oats, soybeans, tofu, chick peas, white beans.

7.Essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are amino acids that can not occur in the body so the intake of essential amino acids is very important. They are the basis for the production of prostaglandins. Studies have shown that its deficiency can cause infertility. Best sources: cold-pressed unrefined vegetable oils-safflower, soybean, peanut, raw sunflower seeds. Avoid refined oils.

8.Carnitine. Carnitine is an amino acid that consists of two essential amino acids: lysine and methionine. It is obtained mainly from foods of animal origin, but also arises in the body. Together with the B vitamins, carnitine facilitates the creation, maturation and motility of spermatozoa and enhances sexual prowess. Carnitine deficiency can occur in people who do not get enough protein, vitamins B and C and iron, in vegetarians. Best source: meat and dairy products.
